Brandon Bower

Some performers sound like the place they grew up. Brandon Bower grew up in Augusta, Georgia, the hometown of James Brown, and he names that soul and funk tradition as a big influence. That background still sets the pulse of his music.

Today he lives in Virginia Beach, where he sings, plays guitar, writes songs and leads the Brandon Bower Band. A single night can move through rock, funk, soul, country and blues, and he picks the mix to suit the room. He can play a stripped-down acoustic set for a small crowd, or bring the full band to a festival stage.

He learned the road the hard way. For more than five years he was the lead singer, guitarist and a writer for The Big Mighty, a touring band that played about 200 dates a year. Over that time he wrote more than fifty original songs.

His recent recordings are released as the Brandon Bower Band, with six singles since 2023. In 2026 his dates around Hampton Roads included Norfolk Harborfest, the Town Center Summer Fest, oceanfront stages at 7th and 34th Streets, and the 17th Street Park bill with Carbon Leaf.
